Shown below are the awards won by the Tucson Computer
Society's Web site and its membership publication The
Journal. We are honored to have achieved this recognition
and continue to strive to improve.
The Web Site
In July 2011, TCS entered its web site in the annual web site competition of the Association of Personal Computer User Groups (APCUG). TCS was awarded 2nd Place. There were 16 web sites entered into the competition.
In January 2009, TCS entered its web site in the Association of Personal Computer User Groups (APCUG) web site competition. TCS shared 3rd place in with 2 other user groups. There were 20 web sites entered into the competition.
In October 2007, TCS entered its web site in the Association of Personal Computer User Groups (APCUG) web site competition. TCS was awarded 1st place in the "Very Large Groups" category. There were 77 web sites entered into the competition and 18 that were entered in the "Very Large Groups" category.
In July 2011 the TCS web site won 2nd place
in the APCUG annual Web Contest. Our Web content has undergone various enhancements under the direction of webmaster Paul Scott: We now update the home page and corresponding SIG page after each meeting with extensive notes in our "Meeting Notes" page. In January 2006 the TCS web site won 3rd place
for the APCUG "Large Groups" contest. The layout was redesigned by former webmaster Jan Boyett,
with the unrelenting contribution and support of
Barbara Nuehring and Bob Eldred.
In 2000 the TCS web site tied for 1st place in the Web
site contest of the Southwestern Regional Users' Group
Conference.
In previous years, APCUG declared
the TCS web site the winner of the "Speed" category
— apparently the fastest web site in the west
(or anywhere else, for that matter) — and honorable
mention in the "Legibility" category.
In the annual competition
sponsored by the New York PC Users Group, the TCS web
site designed by Charles A. Lee won the "Use of Technology"
category and was the top runner-up for "Best Overall".
TCS's site was the contest's only repeat winner.
The TCS web site designed by John "Bud" Banks
won the "Presentation" category and was a runner-up in
the "Design" category.
The Journal
 In
2002, the TCS Journal and Editor Brent Mockbee took
First Place for the Best Newsletter in the Large-sized
Group Category.
In 2000 the Journal, with Ken Blake as Editor, tied
as best newsletter publication.
In previous years, The Journal (Ken Blake, Editor)
was a runner up for Best User Group Coverage and Best
Features for large publications (more than 26 Pages)
and was the Runner Up for Best Overall, along with
being a runner up for Best User Group Coverage and
Best Features.
